"Playoffs Have Arrived"
February 16th, 2006: OWHS -- As the regular season draws to a close this week
with the Annual Cloverbelt Conference Playoff, it could only mean that WIAA Playoff action is just around the corner, for
both the girls and the boys.
The Cloverbelt Playoff: Every year pride is put on the line, also with bragging rights of "which side is better"
when the Eastern and Western conferences face off. Teams are paired via rank in their conference, with 3rd through 8th place
being determined tonight (Western teams Host). First and Second place games are held on Saturday night, in Neillsville.
*Note* Due to the Winter Storm, many, if not all, Cloverbelt Playoff games were cancelled tonight, to be played
tomorrow or Saturday.
"Game of the Year, or Best Game Ever?"
January 27th, 2006: OWEN -- Jamie Faude scored 16 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Owen-Withee
girls' basketball team beat Thorp 56-51 in double overtime in an Eastern Cloverbelt Conference game on Friday night.
"It was unbelievable," Owen-Withee assistant coach Greg Bottlemy said. "You couldn't ask for a better game between two
teams."
The Cardinals sent the game in to a second overtime when Kim Lewan drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key at the first
overtime's buzzer.
The Blackhawks pulled away early in the second overtime.
"In the second overtime we made a couple field goals and they were forced to foul us and we made the free throws down the
line," Bottlemy said.
Owen-Withee travels to Stanley-Boyd on Thursday.
